An inviting blend of man-made parks, office buildings, and residential communities, Southeast Austin combines the urban feel of downtown with natural beauty.  Home to over 36,000 residents, the area is largely undeveloped and inexpensive.  It is an ideal location for single professionals and young couples who want the convenience of downtown amenities for more affordable rates.

Map of Southeast Austin

Developed later than most Austin communities, Southeast Austin has an abundance of apartment complexes, duplexes and 4-plexes.  Even still, single-family, half of which were built during the 1970’s, can still be found. These houses typically have three bedrooms and sell for an average price of $100,000 and as low as $25,000.  The City of Austin provides the water and electricity, while the Texas Gas Service is the main distributor for gas.

Filling out the 78744 zip code, Ben White Blvd. marks the border to the north, IH-35 to the west, Colton Blvd. to the south, and U.S. Highway 183 to the east.  Residents of Southeast Austin are merely a ten-minute drive from downtown without traffic and even closer to a myriad of local restaurants, bars, and retail shops.  Perhaps more impressive is the number of parks and creeks in the area including the 744 acre McKinney Falls State Park.  Golf enthusiasts may also enjoy an 18-hole round at the Jimmy Clay & Roy Kizer Golf Courses

Southeast Austin neighborhoods are served by both the Austin I.S.D. and Del Valle I.S.D.  Students attend Houston, Pleasant Hill, Langford, Rodriguez, Widen, Palm, Baty, Hillcrest, and Smith elementary schools.  Afterwards, they may attend Mendez, Paredes, John P. Ojeda and Del Valle Middle schools before heading to Travis, Akins, and Del Valley High schools.
